I am delighted to share that I had the opportunity to present at the 2024 Australasian Melanoma Conference (AMC2024), hosted by Melanoma Institute Australia. This significant event brought together multidisciplinary healthcare professionals and researchers from Australia, New Zealand, and beyond, uniting us all in our shared mission to achieve zero deaths from melanoma and lower the burden of this disease.
The AMC2024 was an excellent platform to amplify the impact of melanoma research and care and foster invaluable networking opportunities that help establish new partnerships and ignite collaborations. It was inspiring to be part of an event focused on advancing knowledge, exchanging best practices, and integrating new strategies for better patient outcomes.
During the conference, I was privileged to present on “Integrating New Technologies for Melanoma Surveillance in Primary Care.” It was an engaging session where we explored best practices and future directions in primary care, leveraging innovative technologies for enhanced melanoma surveillance.
Additionally, I participated in a panel discussion alongside esteemed colleagues such as Prof Victoria Mar, A/Prof Jeremy Hudson, and Prof Anne Cust. The panel provided valuable insights and shared perspectives on key melanoma management and care areas. I also enjoyed hearing Claire Gore’s impactful presentation on addressing the supportive care needs of melanoma patients in primary care.

I am deeply passionate about my work at FNQH Cairns, the only skin cancer clinic in Australia offering a wide range of cutting-edge technologies in one location. This unique setup is vital for making these advancements accessible to the regional community of Far North Queensland and beyond. We aim to bring the best technology to our region, enhancing skin cancer diagnosis, treatment, and research outcomes.
I am dedicated to improving skills and creating accreditation pathways for general practitioners with a special interest in skin cancer. I will actively advocate for new Australian accreditation routes that enable GPs to enhance their expertise in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, ensuring the highest standard of patient care.
I remain committed to working and collaborating with larger institutions to achieve our goal of “no deaths to melanoma.” Watch this space as we continue raising the bar with new accreditation pathways for GPs specialising in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Thank you for your continued interest and support in this journey.
Together, we can make a difference.
Warm regards,
Dr Vin Rajeswaran
